Introducing Teletherapy to My Practice

Explaining Teletherapy

Teletherapy, is therapy provided by a qualified therapist held over the internet or even the telephone. It can be used for Individual or Group Therapy. These work in the same way as traditional therapy except the patient is in the privacy of their own home or office. The therapist and patient can see and hear each other in real time and can interact spontaneously with one another. The therapist uses the same methods and face to face conversation used when conducting in-person sessions. As always, patients may opt for one session or on-going sessions as needed.

Teletherapy Sessions Are Private and conducted from a private and secure space. Sessions will not be recorded or shared. Patients are encouraged to use a private area for their Telehealth session. These sessions are conducted with specialized software that is fully encrypted, offering a high level of security and privacy, approved by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), legislation that ensures data privacy and security for safeguarding medical information, including
therapy. However, some patients may prefer therapy conducted over the telephone, which is less secure, but, approved by the CMS, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the organization most providers look to for guidance.

Teletherapy makes therapy more accessible for more people and removes barriers such as distance and time and adds more convenient hours to the therapist’s schedule. Also, patients may feel safer talking with a therapist from the comfort of their own home or office. In summary, Teletherapy can be conducted over Video Conferencing that is easy to log into from your computer, laptop, or smart phone. This is confidential and Hippa Privacy compliant. Teletherapy can be conducted over the phone for those who need it. Many patients have found Teletherapy convenient and successful, although some may still prefer or do better with in-office visits.

Thinking about Psychotherapy? Good for You!

It takes strength to know when you need additional help for how you are feeling emotionally. Too often, we start thinking that we should be able to solve everything ourselves. But, the same as no one would think twice about seeing an Orthopedic Surgeon for a broken arm, it is a strength to seek out professional help for emotional or relationship problems!

Do You Need Someone to Listen, Understand, and Help You Move Forward?

I am a listener first and foremost. It is my job to learn as much as I can about the challenges you face and how you feel about those. My job is not to judge, but, rather to understand. Then, I can help you create coping strategies that will successfully help you work towards feeling happier and more satisfied with life?
